Komar University Celebrates Sulaimani’s Rich History with Music, Photography, Painting Exhibition, Conversations, and Poetry

On November 14, 2023, students, staff and faculty members at Komar University of Science and Technology came together to celebrate the rich cultural and historical heritage of the city.

The event started with an opening speech by professor Dr. Kawis Aziz Faraj, Vice President for Student and Academic Affairs, highlighting key events and influential figures that have shaped the city over the centuries.

Adding an academic perspective to the celebration, Dr. Hemn Karim, a distinguished faculty member at Komar University, delivered an interesting talk exploring the city’s history. His talk covered various facets, with a particular focus on the evolution of art and poetry in Sulaimani, providing a deeper understanding of the cultural roots that define the city.

Following these speeches, some of the university’s most talented students took the stage, entertaining the audience with great performances of folklore songs and infusing the celebration with a sense of continuity and connection to the city’s past.
